How can I stop firefox from sending requests as I type in address bar?

Everytime I start typing a url/something else in the address bar, firefox initiates a request to the site it autocompletes to, as I type.

E.g. if I type "cn" and it completes to "cnn.com", it also sends a request to cnn.com.

I know that because I'm also using LittleSnitch.

I would like to disable this request-sending-on-auto-completion feature for 2 reasons: 1. privacy -- why should anyone know something about what I'm typing as I type it? 2. usability -- the LittleSnitch window keeps popping up, shifting the focus away from the address bar as I type.

hi shx2, the network connection is opened to fetch a favicon of the address you're entering, this however is a bug which will be fixed in firefox 44 that is going to be released next week... https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1233982
