On AVG web tuneup I disabled it for some reason, don't remember why now and I uninstalled the whole thing I thought but I guess the add on never deleted for some reason but the plugin must still be disabled. I'm trying to start it up again but it keeps telling me the plugin is disabled and I can't for the life of me figure out how to turn it back on,it's not anywhere in my plugin listing that I can see. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi squirrelhunter.

What is the whole message saying, that the add-on has been disabled? Maybe it is because the add-on signing introduced in latest Firefox version. If so, please read about Add-on signing in Firefox.

To remove a plugin, you must remove it's program from your system. All you need to do is leave the plugin set to Never.

It says "Plugin is disabled in your default browser.Mozilla Firefox. Enable the plugin from your browser for full protection." I'll check the signing.

If I recall I was having problems and thought maybe it's plugin was the problem and tried to delete it and I set it to never but I still had the problem and wound up just uninstalling the whole AVG program. Now when I try to reinstall it this is what I'm getting,so the "never" setting must still be in the systems. Is there anyway of changing the setting back to enable? I don't see the plugin anywhere in the listing and don't know how to fix it.

Ah, I see. Look in the Plugin's list of the Add-ons Manager. But also look in the Extension's list.

This will disable add-on signature enforcement; Enter about:config into your Firefox address bar Click the I'll be careful button Find xpinstall.signatures.required in the list Right click the preference Select Toggle until the value is false https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-on-signing-in-firefox

Note that there is usually no need to use special extensions added by security software as they can be a cause of a lot of problems. AVG extensions and toolbars have regularly been reported in a lot of cases as causing issues.

Extensions that do not have a "Remove" button are installed by other software and are not under control of the Firefox extension manager. Such globally installed extensions are usually found via a registry scan or are installed in a location that Firefox scans for installed extensions.

Extensions installed this way need to be removed via the settings (options/preferences) of the program that has added this extension or this program has to be uninstalled via "Control Panel > Programs". In Firefox you an only disable such an extension.
