when i type emails it takes forever because the letters get mixed up
My cursor will shoot across the screen at random. Just now when I got to the word random the cursor jumped back to the word will.

But you wrote this posting in your browser, not in Thunderbird, surely? So this problem occurs in at least two different places.
What is your Operating System?
