Firefox starts and runs, then multiple sites claim "no connection" while other browsers work.

I am using Firefox and browsing, when it seems that Firefox loses the connection: sites won't load or refresh; Yahoo mail says "no internet connection." However, Internet Explorer still works during these times, and the Wi-Fi modem is active. I've tried resetting the modem, and re-starting the computer.

Running Windows 8.1.

Are you saying Firefox has no access to the web. or just some websites?

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

I appreciate the suggestions. I tried both, to no avail.
