Using templates with new and reply messages

The instructions in the template assignment window indicate that the code, < div id="quoteDIV"> </div > should be included to allow the inclusion of text from a message when using the Reply and forward option.

However, for new and reply-to messages, this code appears as the first line of new text in the message body section when the compose window opens. Why is this happening?

Upon seeing the original question I posted, the 'Code' I was referencing did not display.

I am using the External Template Loader Add-On (0.4.4).

Really I think you would have to ask Paolo that one. But reading his instructions it looks to me like that code must be entered in the source of the template, not as body text. I assume you have something with the option od viewing and editing the source
