Hi, we appreciate you are annoyed, but please note that the people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Firefox Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).

If Firefox is open, you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:

  • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click Help Help-29 and select Restart with Add-ons Disabled.

If Firefox is not running, you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:

  • On Windows: Hold the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac: Hold the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run firefox -safe-mode
(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)

When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article to find the cause.

To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

If Safe Mode didn't help, delete ALL references to the website in question, as shown under the heading 'How do I remove a single website from my history?' in this article - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox, then try the site (not from an old bookmark) again. Note: It may take a few minutes to complete the deletion.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem. Thank you!

Hi,
If this isn't the first time that   'we'   blocked your pages:
Could you tell us what happened the last time   (or previous times)   ?

Hi Star2burst, just to be clear, support volunteers are not in your computer, we can only guide you on how to use Firefox features more effectively so that site works normally again for you.

In addition to the above suggestions, here are two more:

(1) If you use private browsing windows, check whether Tracking Protection is blocking content in the page, and (2) Update your Flash plugin.

For #1: Do you see a "shield" icon at the left end of the address bar? This article describes how to unblock content blocked by the tracking protection feature: What happened to Tracking Protection?.

For #2: If your bank's website uses the Flash player plugin, it may be that yours has become too out-of-date, and therefore is no longer activating automatically.

To update Flash, you can download from this page:

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

Please be sure to uncheck any unwanted extra software offered on the page before downloading the installer.

After updating, check the Add-ons page to make sure Flash has the setting you prefer. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (on Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Plugins. Then on the right side look for "Shockwave Flash" and select either of these permissions:

  • "Always Activate" => sites can use Flash without specific permission
  • "Ask to Activate" => sites require your permission to use Flash

With the "Ask to Activate" setting, when you visit a site that wants to use Flash, you should see a notification icon in the address bar and usually (but not always) one of the following: a link in a black rectangle in the page or an infobar sliding down between the toolbar area and the page.

The plugin notification icon in the address bar typically looks like a small, dark gray Lego block. When the page wants to use a blocked plugin, the icon turns red to alert you to the concern.

If you see a good reason to use Flash, and the site looks trustworthy, you can go ahead and click the notification icon in the address bar to allow Flash. You can trust the site for the time being or permanently.

But some pages use Flash only for tracking or playing ads, so if you don't see an immediate need for Flash, feel free to ignore the notification! It will just sit there in case you want to use it later.
