Are you referring to an extra toolbar or do you mean adding extra features?

I'm not sure what your actual question about this extension is?

Do you want to move items to another toolbar?

Web Developer comes as an extra toolbar with a lot of buttons on it, so you will have to accept this extra toolbar. If there is a feature that isn't working then you need to contact its developer for support.

cor-el, the question say exactly what I'm asking: Do YOU know there's a replacement for the Status-bar? Firefox took away the Status-bar, and it had several "features" on it, placed there by Add-ons like "Filesizer", and others. I'm simply pointing out that "Web Developer" provides a handy replacement which has lots of "features", including Resize.

If you want to add a status bar then you can look at the extensions I posted in my first reply.

cor-el, Your "solution" doesn't solve my problem. Filesizer is still in my Add-ons, but it doesn't appear in the main toolbar. In other words, it doesn't work anymore in FF 50.0 and beyond. The "Web Developer" toolbar DOES have an equivalent to Filesizer called Resize, and it DOES WORK. I can always disable the "Web Developer" Add-on to eliminate its tool bar, and enable it again some other time, but what's the difference between having a Status-bar at the bottom of the page, and a Web-Developer toolbar near the top of the page? Basically, the same real estate is covered, just in a different place. I believe others will find my solution helpful.

Hi dickguertin, maybe the confusion is caused by the title of this thread. Perhaps it should something be "A replacement for Firesizer that doesn't need the status/add-on bar".

Most people looking for a replacement for the status/add-on bar want to be able to have a bar at the bottom of the window they can add things to.

Edit: Fixed typo in the add-on name: Firesizer requires The Addon Bar (Restored) (may not work correctly in Firefox 50) or New Add-on Bar.

Sounds like you are confusing two different eras in Firefox UI development. Firefox 4.0 / Orange "Firefox" button (March 22, 2011) was when the Statusbar was drastically changed, and the Add-on Bar came into the UI to "replace" the former "Statusbar". And Firefox 29 / Australis (April 29, 2014) was when the Add-on Bar went away in the default UI.

For Firefox 4.0 and later versions, Status-4-Evar extension restored most of the original Statusbar functionality. Extensions such as Web Developer by chrispederick that add a complete Toolbar to Firefox 29+ (plus) versions rarely work together with a separate Statusbar / Add-on Bar extension. Extension developers would need to work with each other to work out differences in how each different extension is coded when it modifies the Firefox UI.

Whoops, forgot to mention ...

IMO, don't spend a lot of time now trying to "perfect" what you don't like about the UI by using extensions. Any fix you may come up with now probably won't work in 6 months, unless it is a "WebExtension".

The entire UI is going to be re-written and most of the extensions that "we" have been using for years now probably won't work for much longer, and the "extensibility" of Firefox will be severely limited once XUL is gone.

Fileresizer works perfectly for me with Firefox 50.1.0 with the Classic Theme Restorer extension providing the Add-ons bar.

Thank you all for your responses, but allow me to point out several things that lead to my "question". First, the rules for this site state I should "Ask a question", rather than make a statement. I did that. Second, email responses to me do NOT include a link back to the original post, which most forums provide so the originator can quickly return to the topic. Third, the article at "support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/what-happened-status-bar" makes no mention of "the Classic Restorer Extension"; all it says is "The old Status Bar is dead". That's why my Filesizer Add-on doesn't work in 50.1 on my Mac. The result of all this led me to the "Web Developer" code I mentioned in my own answer to my "question".

I agree with "the-edmeister" about a "WebExtension", and worry about Mozilla removing capabilities that some people need, like "Resize".

The old StatusBar was killed long before Classic Theme Restorer was created, like 3+ years before.

The "classic theme" that CTR "restores" is the Firefox 4.0 UI design scheme (with that silly Orange Firefox button) was when the Addon Bar feature for user placement (or extension developer placement) of extension icons / buttons came about. The former Status Bar, prior to Firefox 4.0, did allow icons / buttons on the Status Bar which were "placed" by the extension developer, but the user couldn't use "Customize" to move them around or add any new ones; other than using a menu item that an extension developer provided. NoScript and AdblockPlus are two extensions that I used which had menu items to choose between the StatusBar and the Navigation Toolbar. The AddonBar feature in Firefox 4.0 thru 28, did allow for user placement of toolbar icons / buttons to a certain extension; some extensions prevented that from working as intended due to "old code" used to create their icons / buttons. A real WTF situation when trying to customize Firefox. 4.0 thru 28.0, which Status-4-Evar got around.

Then in the Australis UI / Firefox 29 that Addon Bar was "killed", bringing about CTR and that feature in CTR to "restore" the Addon Bar and also bought about a separate Add-on Bar extension.

You can probably find a browser window resizer bookmarklet from this Google search, and not even need an extension for something as simple as resizing the browser window. Resizer Bookmarklet

the-edmeister, honestly, I don't remember back before FF30.0. Maybe I should have said "The Addon Bar", which was in FF48.0, and Filesizer works, but is now gone in FF50. I had to go back to an older Mac (Snow Leopard) to discover that. Maybe I'm just too old for this stuff (75+).

If I could edit my original post, I'd change the title to "Addon-Bar" instead of "Status-Bar", and I'd recommend the extension "The Addon Bar (restored)". I've disabled "Web Developer" (in Extensions), but I've kept it just in case.
