Why doesn't a Flash update work correctly?
I get a notice to update Flash. the Add-ons manager showed v19, v21, and v24 installed. But I tried to update anyway. After the update said it was complete, the Add-ons maanager said I still had Flash v19 and v21, but not v24. So: (1) Why isn't the update process eliminating old versions, and (2) how do I get it to really update to the current version, which I think is v24?
I'm using XP SP3.
Thanks.

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac
Then reinstall the latest version.
Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).
Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.
Flash Player Version: 24.0.0.194

Unless you actually need the Java Plugin for something you do in Firefox, you should consider setting the Plugin to click to play or deactivated until you need it or uninstall it on Windows.

Actually, I have two instances of Java Platform SE and two instances of Java Deployment toolkit. Any reason I can't just delete the older ones of each, using the Windows control panel?
