Firefox regards Logitech software as an add-on. It isn't
I use a Logitech software utility that came with my Logitech keyboard and mouse combination. Firefox regards the Logitech utility as an add-on and has disabled part of it. Logitech is an independent program, nothing to do with Firefox. The utility puts pop-up notifications on the screen when certain keys are pressed, such as the sound control and caps key notification. These no longer work despite installing the latest Logitech software. I have contacted Logitech and they have no answer. I have been into the about:config and changed the xpinstall.signatures.required to false, but the notifications are still disabled. This is wrong that Firefox is interfering with a commercial program that is not an add-on and has nothing to do with Firefox.

I found, by accident, in the extensions that Firefox disabled it because the Logitech program doesn't have a signature. It suggests that Logitech should sign their software. I don't even know what that means, and I'm not going to tell Logitech to do any such thing. I used the Logitech utility for years on Windows XP but had problems since I bought a new computer a few weeks ago with Windows 10.
Since I posted the complaint Logitech sent me an older version of the utility but that meant having to uninstall the newest version, first. In trying to uninstall it, it locked the computer up so that I had to unplug it from the power in order to reboot. The three-finger salute wouldn't even stop it from trying to uninstall. The hard drive light kept flickering for ages which is why I had to cut the power.
Then when it restarted I saw the Logitech still there but with some other control features missing. I managed to uninstall the whole thing and then reinstall the older version, but it installed the newest version. I guess the previous newest version didn't completely uninstall. Once that was all done, the brief pop-up notifications are working as they should. So, the problem is solved, yet Firefox still shows it as blocked.
The part that loses me is why Firefox is messing with a program that is nothing to do with it. The utility sets up the various features of the Logitech keyboard/mouse combination. I think that since I switched the 'xpinstall.signatures.required' to false, and rebooted, it fixed the pop-up notifications problem, but I had already rebooted and it didn't help. It seems that a complete (or almost complete) uninstall of Logitech, a fresh installation and a reboot fixed it.
