Thunderbird deleted all e-mails in my other mail program (iMac, Mail). Didn't want that, just wanted to delete the e-mails in thunderbird. How can I change this
Hallo zusammen, da ich beruflich bedingt öfter große und viele Bilddateien versenden muss und das sich - insbesondere bei Empfängern mit Windows - mit Mail sehr schwierig gestaltet, habe ich Thunderbird installiert. Ich nutze Thunderbird ausschließlich für den Bilderversand. Daher habe ich alle Mails in Thunderbird gelöscht, weil ich für den normalen E-Mail-Verkehr nur das Mac Mailprogramm nutze. Plötzlich waren auch alle E-Mails im Mailprogramm weg. Das wollte ich aber gar nicht! In den Einstellungen von Thunderbird finde ich nichts, was eine automatische Synchronisation mit anderen Mailprogrammen auf meinem Rechner bewirken könnte, so dass ich diese Funktion abstellen kann. Thunderbird ist NICHT mein Standardmailprogramm. Kann mir jemand helfen? Liebe Grüße SelBu

Set all your accounts up to use POP and choose the option to leave messages on server.
You need to do this on all of your devices and email programs.
Much simpler, I think, to stay as you are with IMAP and just stop deleting things.
IMAP synchronizes email clients to a server, not to each other.
I don't see why you need to use different email programs to connect to users of different operating systems. Email is cross-platform by design.
Another suggestion; set Thunderbird to use POP and to leave messages on the server. Then you can delete messages in Thunderbird without affecting what is on the server.
