Paul, I just did see your 2nd post about wanting to stay on the old FF. Sorry, I'm not opposed to moving on if I get it working. And I have Windows 10. And I hear some fuss about Windows but I've been using it since 3.1 and I've never had really big problems. I do not consider myself a geek. I might be and average or above average layperson, from experience since DOS and BASIC days, and the first of Windows. But I've never had real big problems. I bought this HP Windows 8 a few years back and it's taken every upgrade to 10 and the most recent updates like a champ. I find there are reasons some have real bad problems and some don't. It's not always the operators fault but sometimes it is. Like some things a little maintenance goes a long way. And when I work on friends problems, sometimes nightmarish, it's because they do not do the most basic of maintenance.

Since I've been on FF since the 0.9 (zero dot nine) release, I'm hardly opposed to moving on. But Quantum has broken too many things that I use - TabMixPlus and Colorful Tabs are both very important to me.

WITHOUT those, I might as well use Chrome OR Safari.

I used Windows 2000 Professional - trashed with virus. XP, trashed with virus. Switched to Linux - but it wouldn't support my Logitech mouse's full functions OR my Dymo printer software. So I finally went the RIGHT way and got a 27" iMac with a 2nd 27" Thunderbolt monitor. Looking FORWARD to the new Mac Pro (NOT the Macbook Pro, though I have one) and HOPING for 30" or larger Apple-branded monitors (2, of course)!!

But to me, Mozilla has SIGNIFICANTLY broken faith with users - MOST especially with the FORCED upgrades. THAT is insult added to injury!

SINCE Firefox isn't compatible with many sites and Chrome seems universally compatible, it might just be time to move on. Staying on an old version, if that works, will give me time to configure Chrome and Safari to my preferences - I need four windows each with a specific set of tabs.

Apparently, the bookmarks problem is NOT related to FF 57 Quantum, since Xmarks just blasted my bookmarks toolbar on FF 56.0.2!

So, WHILE I try to sit on the older version, I'll have Xmarks disabled unless I can find an older version of it.

And here I installed an extension to SAVE my bookmarks - but didn't USE it!

Imported from Chrome again - and actually, it was far easier than I had been making it!

And, jscher2000, I decided to go with YOUR suggestion after all and not hope the problem was related to only specific versions of 56.
