How do I get the 21 years of passwords & preferences back that Firefox refresh deleted.
Fell for the oldest trick in the book and refreshed Firefox because it said it was running slow. Lost 21 years of preferences and passwords etc. And of course it now runs twice as slow. Any way to retrieve this information & preferences once they are deleted?

You can selectively copy files from the Old Firefox Data folder on your desktop to your current profile folder. See:
- Recover important data from an old profile
- Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data
You also can do a wholesale copy/paste of everything as described in the following thread. It was written for Windows, but I think if you change "Windows Explorer" to "Finder" in your mind, and Ctrl+c/Ctrl+v/Ctrl+a to use the Command key, the steps would be the same: I did a Reset of Firefox - How do i get add my 'Old firefox data' back?
In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.
