Had 52.6.0 installed as IMAP account, wanted POP. Running Win10-64. Migrated per https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer. No Local Folders shown, no address books. After thrashing about, I set my Local Folders to E:\Data\NAS Echo\Thunderbird\4lmjatm5.default\Mail\Local Folders, whereas it used to be E:\Data\NAS Echo\Thunderbird\4lmjatm5.default\Mail\secure.emailsrvr.com Server settings is: E:\Data\NAS Echo\Thunderbird\4lmjatm5.default\Mail\secure.emailsrvr.com, as before

I am unable to set these both to E:\Data\NAS Echo\Thunderbird\4lmjatm5.default\Mail\secure.emailsrvr.com - the dialog box says the other is using it. Have tried multiple times trying each one first.

Still no address books, though I have them backed up & can reload them. All 10k addresses.

Can I get BOTH server & Local Folders looking at the same profile again?

Why does this keep getting screwed up?

Help! I know I am old & not too swift any more, but it shouldn't be this difficult.

re :ok. Folder pane options are not as you describe Those were the instructions based on you using the 'Menu Bar' Toolbar. In the original question, you supplied images which showed you were using Menu Bar toolbar, so naturally I supplied instructions based on info you supplied.

Using the 'Mail Toolbar' toolbar, this is where they are located: Menu icon > Options > Layout > Folder Pane Columns

re : Address Books

The image you supplied shows you already have those *.mab address books in the profile folder.

I had assumed they were not in the profile.

Before you start to import again. In Thunderbird

  • 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab
  • click on 'Config Editor' button
  • a new window opens saying be careful :)

In top search type: filename to see filename decription to see the name you applied to that filename

You may see results that look like these examples:

  • ldap_2.servers.pab.filename; Value = abook.mab
  • ldap_2.servers.pab.description; Value = Personal Address Book

'Personal Address Book' is the default name for that address book. If I need to import, I look for the 'abook.mab' file.

  • ldap_2.servers.history.filename; Value = history.mab
  • ldap_2.servers.history.description; Value = Collected Addresses

Collected Addresses is the default name for that address book. If I need to import, I look for the 'history.mab' file.

  • ldap_2.servers.Business.filename; Value = abook-2.mab
  • ldap_2.servers.Business.description; Value = Business

'Business' is the name I gave that address book. If I need to import, I look for the 'abook-2.mab' file.

  • ldap_2.servers.yahooab.filename; Value = impab.mab
  • ldap_2.servers.yahooab.description; Value = Yahoo-ab

'Yahoo-ab' is the name I gave that address book. If I need to import, I look for the 'impab.mab' file.

So for you... 'abook.mab' is the current new default 'Personal Address Book' 'history.mab' is the current new default 'Collected Addresses'

You need to find out all the other .mab filename and description. Is this information available in 'about: Config' window accessed via 'Config Editor' button?
