Secure Connection Failed issue on Windows 10, Firefox 37.0.2
Hi,
I'm getting an error with the latest download of Firefox (37.0.2) on Windows 10 (has all recent updates) when I visit some sites - for example the message from www.visa.com below:
An error occurred during a connection to www.visa.com. Cannot communicate securely with peer: no common encryption algorithm(s). (Error code: ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap)
I've seen this reported in one other thread for someone using an old version of Firefox on a Mac but that's not me - Windows 10 and the latest version of Firefox. The previous version of Firefox I had (version 33.0) was working fine.
Any suggestions to fix this would be very welcome - at the moment, I'm forced to use Chrome because so many pages refuse to open in Firefox.
Many thanks,
Mike

Okay, many thanks for your replies. I finally got the latest version of Firefox to work - had to uninstall the previous versions and start completely afresh. However, that does seem to have fixed the problem.

Sorry - to be more specific, the actual page on the Visa example above is this one:
https://www.visa.com/atmlocator/mobile
The page https://www.visa.co.uk/ loads fine.
Hi, you say latest version 37 and previous version 33 those are several years old and the current version is 59.0.2 You can confirm your version by going to Help --About. This will also activate update if your browser is not the current version.
So without knowing what version you are running have no answers for you other than : uninstall Firefox. Then Delete the Mozilla Firefox Folders in C:\Program Files , C:\Program Files(x86) & C:\ProgramData Then restart system. Then run Windows Disk Cleanup. (Note: This should be Pinned and run Weekly, If never done below expect 10's of gig's) Then run it again and click the button that says Cleanup System Files. Note: your Firefox Profile is saved. But you should make a back up before you do :

Reinstall with Current Release Firefox 59.0.2 with a Full Version Installer
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
Many thanks for your response. I've downloaded the latest version (59.0.2) and all is fine. What has happened here is that I googled for Firefox and got a link to what I thought was the latest download and installed that.
I don't store history on my browsers and I've just googled again to see if I could recreate the path to the download but I can't. So, the moral here is to make sure I download from the official Firefox website in future :-)
Thanks once again.
Hi, you are welcome. I would suggest if you did not download from a official site to check yourself out and install this for 1 x only use : https://www.hitmanpro.com/ just to be on the safe side as it is known that some places will add some stuff to Firefox Download.
If you would please Mark the Solution that Solved your Issue so Others can Find it.
