Is there a way to read a page on Mac OSX saved in the reading list on iOS ? I'd rather not use Pocket.

Yes. Firefox
Where are you seeing the Pocket selection?
On the OS X or windows version, reading list does not seem to exist. The favored solution seems to be pocket. On the iOS part, I really like the reading list feature. Thus this question
