When I do a search such as (no quotes) "john 5" and i have hundreds of john emails the search results could also be in the hundreds because all the 5 in the headers are searched too. How do I suppress headers in the search? If it's not built in, is there an extension for this?

Maybe you should use quotes, to indicate the literal string you want to search for.

Have you tried the search obtained via the ctrl+shift+f keystroke combination? It allows you to state specific fields to search (subject, from, body etc) using a syntax very like the message filter tool.

Whilst this search mode operates only on the current folder, it can easily be extended to a Saved Search, where you can nominate which folders to include in the search.

Thanks! This ctrl+shift+f is awesome. I know, try quotes, but I've done that before with frustrating results. Being able to limit the search to the Body is great.
