HELP!!! Anyone?
re : They are still on the server Are they in the the server Inbox? If no, then move them into the server Inbox folder.
re :Deleted popstate.dat from files When you deleted the popstate.dat file from pop mail account in profile folders, did you exit Thunderbird first? Thunderbird must not be running when you do this.
Did any emails get downloaded or none - just new ?
What server are they on? Gmail ?
When you lost the emails, what folder(s) were they located under?
Have you either manually or automatically compacted your folder(s) ? If not compacted then do not compact at the moment.
Do you allow an AV program to scan Thunderbird folder and files or scan incoming emails? Do you know if the AV product quarantined a thunderbird file?
Do you have any backup?
No thanks to anyone here... I fixed it myself. Now downloading over 80K of emails.

And how did you fix it? Perhaps the next person coming to this site with the same problem could benefit from your experience.
How did your messages come to be deleted? My experiece suggest almost all occurences of this occur as the result of third party applications. Almost always anti virus products. Norton will delete all the mail in a folder for instance is it notifies you it has found a "nasty" and you click fix automatically.
File contention resulting from anti virus product scanning files Thunderbird is using is the next major source of issues and finally there is the backup programs that are busy backing up files while the program is still using them. The bottom line is the more backups you take and the more invasive your so called security software is the greater your chance of having troubles is.
