I download ed the weather channel which made my normal firefox disappear. Did not like it, so I followed instructions to remove add on. The weather page disappeared but I got an error message File not found forefox can't the file at jar:file (long command line). How do I get this file back? Help please.

Did you check the Windows Recycle Bin?

What file(s) did you remove and in what location(s)?

If you removed files in the Firefox program folder then you will have to reinstall Firefox.

Hi ggmenke, could you disable all your extensions and then reset your home page and default search engine to whatever you prefer?

Disable Extensions

You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Do you remember why you installed these? If in doubt, and/or to test the results, disable (or remove).
