Numerous web sites ask for a login. A password manager helps to avoid the habit of using the same password on multiple sites. There exist online password managers. But the worrying reality is that these days even the most reputable sites get hacked. Thus, an offline password manager seems the best option.

In the experience of Firefox users, what is the best offline password manager, integrating well with Firefox

● on the desktop for Linux, for Apple Mac, and for MS Windows ?

● on mobile for Google's Andoid and for Apple's IOS ?

Hello W.H.H.,

Would you consider using Firefox's Password Manager  ?

Hi McCoy

Thank you for your reply.

There is one problem with your suggestion: Firefox users who value their privacy will always work in Private Browsing mode (set through about:preferences).

And Private Browsing mode disables the built-in Firefox password manager.

So, a third-party application is needed. Hence my question.

I wouldn't have suggested Firefox Password Manager, had I known that you use Private Browsing mode - sorry ....

I'm very reluctant to recommend a third-party extension, as I don't know which one would be the safest (if at all).

I hope that somebody else will be able to give you some good advice (fingers crossed).

(personally I just write down all passwords on an old fashioned piece of paper ..... )
