In the evening I close all my apps, including Firefox. In the morning, when I start my computer, Firefox automatically starts. Not the end of the world, but a little annoying and I'd like to stop it. Please don't send me to "Firefox starts automatically when I restart Windows," (https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-starts-automatically-when-i-restart-window) because that answer is about Firefox opening with a restored session when you HAVE NOT closed Firefox before shutting down. This question, and perhaps others that have been 'answered' with that link, is about Firefox opening on startup when you HAVE closed it before shutting down. I'd actually like to keep the feature of it automatically restoring a session that wasn't closed before shut-down, since that usually means I was interrupted somehow in my work. I'm running Windows 10 (Home). Thanks for any advice you might have.

Hello!

Please go into your "Task Manager" and select the "Startup" tab. Is FireFox here and under status does it say "Enabled"? If so, just disable it and this should go away.

Although it may be a bit like watching water boil, could you keep an eye on the Windows Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc) at shutdown to make sure all the firefox.exe entries disappear from the Processes tab before you shut down Windows. Just to be sure it isn't a "crash recovery" restart.

You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see what software is getting started (be cautious with disabling services).
