Firefox won't/can't open external software from links

more options

Hi All,

Not sure if this is possible, but links from certain webpages that should access and open software installed on my PC. I've confirmed that this works fine in google, but not in FireFox. Examples include, One Drive links from Share Point should open One Drive software installed on my PC to manage the folder. Screen Connect (screen sharing software) should open the sharing software on my PC but instead downloads it again. Bot of these are confirmed working through google.

Thanks Drew

Hi Drew, browsers send some links to external applications based on the content-type (such as, application/zip) and others are outsourced based on the protocol used by the link (such as, ms-excel:).

I'm guessing One Drive must have its own custom protocol, but a brief search didn't reveal what it is. Any ideas? Or maybe there's something else going on with those.

Similar question for the other application. Any idea what custom protocol it uses?

To get Firefox to recognize a custom protocol, you can try using the method from this thread: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1265375#answer-1239993
