bookmarks sync fail
when I sync my desktop to my android phone, all bookmarks become disorganized and many are missing on both devices. I removed all bookmarks from both the desktop Mac and the Android and toggled sync. Same thing happens. I now have no bookmarks on the android (aOS 8, Oreo) and restored from a backup on the Mac (OSX sierra).

this did work previously, before I had to reset my Android, with 5000 bm's. And it happened stoopit fast. But I just forced close on the Android and cleared the cache there too. Then I toggled the Sync on the Android.
Time will tell. Bizarre .....
Or is there a way to have a limited set of bm's for the purpose of Android sync? I certainly don't need all 5000 on my phones.

Sorry no, it's all or nothing being synchronized with all the data types / data categories; either on or off per device. And that's about all the preference settings that Sync has to offer to the user.
But technically selecting what is to be displayed on a device as far as "mobile" and / or "desktop" should be feasible, since Sync keeps track of "mobile bookmarks" and keeps them separate from "desktop" on the desktop version of Firefox.
So considering that Sync is smart enough to put "mobile bookmarks" in a separate folder labeled the each "mobile device" (Android separate from iOS, from what a few users have mentioned in support threads I viewed) on the laptop / desktop version of Firefox. IMO, since Sync 'knows' mobile from desktop Sync could easily have an option to not display "desktop" bookmarks without making a huge change to Sync. But hey. users always claim a change they want made "should be easy". ;>)
guess I'll try to drag and drop from the desktop bm's to the mobile folder on the desktop. Thanks
it seems the android local bookmarks are not being deleted when "disconnecting". Where on the device are firefox bookmarks stored? I'm thinking if I can delete the "local" files, then maybe the resync will work.
Sorry, I don't have a "smart phone" and don't use "mobile" Firefox, so I can't answer that.
this is weird, with the recent updates to FFx on both the Mac and Android, bookmarks were suddenly in sync. I haven't changed anything, but today the Android is screwy.
