Firefox was working just fine. I changed internet providers to Earthlink which uses AT&T equipment. Suddenly, now I cannot connect to websites, not even to Earthlink. I get error message about secure connection failed (forgot the exact wording). I have tried the self help suggestions. Any ideas on how to fix this? Does AT&T support Firefox? Thanks.

I get error message about secure connection failed (forgot the exact wording).

Could you copy/paste from the error screen, particularly any SEC_ERROR_CODE_etc. that might provide more technical detail about the source of the problem?

When you set up your new service, did you install any software from Earthlink or AT&T that might have changed how your browsers connect?

Yes, the error message is:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

Additional information: I changed from cable internet to fiber optic internet --- if that helps. The only browser I can use now is Google. I prefer Firefox! Thanks.

Hi crosskey, PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR means that the server (or a router along the way) sent an RST code, which instructs Firefox to terminate the connection. The most common reason for this would be inability of Firefox and the server to agree on connection parameters.

What about an insecure site like

http://www.example.com/

Will that load? Does it lead to anything unexpected, like a sign-in page?

Thank you again for your assistance. The link you sent me did not load. I got this message:

The connection was reset

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments.
If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I tried copying the link and pasting it into Firefox search. I got this message (same as the original error message):

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com. PR_CONNECT_RESET_ERROR

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I just tried my laptop. It loads just fine using Firefox. So, it's only on the desktop that the problem is occurring.

What security software do you have?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Thank you for your support. I have Webroot Complete plus Webroot WI-FI Security plus whatever came with Windows 10.

I wish I knew enough to accomplish your suggestion to reboot in safe mode. I would need a more savvy person here to help me. Even with the directions given, believe me, it could be a disaster on my own.

THANK YOU BOTH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. I can't say enough how I appreciate your care and concern. I got some advice to restart the computer after clearing out history, cache and cookies again. I did that twice and now the Firefox browser is working!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm very happy. I just didn't know before that you had to restart after clearing. Please forgive my ignorance, and accept my thanks for your kind help!!!
