Norton just told me that Firefox downloader downloaded bugs in both their updates and patches! My computer HAD started having problems a few days ago that I noticed (hanging up on the lock screen, not letting me sign in). Then Norton found the bugs. Said they were new but high risk. What's going on???

Those don't appear to be files that came from Firefox. They are likely files that some other program or perhaps an illegitimate website downloaded onto your computer, hoping that you would open them thinking they are real. Unfortunately, it's not uncommon for bad people to try and trick people like yourself using this type of tactic.

Fortunately, it sounds like Norton is removing the files for you, which is good. However, you'll want to find out what's causing those files to appear and you'll want to fix that problem. If you run a full scan using Norton, it should be able to track down the issue for you and remove it.

If Norton isn't able to find the issue, you can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

If the scan doesn't find anything, the issue could also be caused by a website that you are visiting. Most of the time it's users that have told Firefox to save files to a certain folder without asking that will have the issue, since there will be no confirmation window that appears when a website triggers a file download. You could try changing to the Always ask you where to save files option in the Firefox options menu for a while to see if any websites are triggering downloads that you didn't notice.

Hope this helps.

You have the latest Firefox. There should not be any updates.
