I use TB 68.12.1 under Win 10 on a PC. I use a primary computer (P), and an identical computer for backup (B). I have been backing up about once a month for about three years. Today my backup to (B) resulted in TB not starting and got the message, "The TB profile cannot be loaded. It may be missing or inaccessible."

What I did was Copy/Paste TB from (P) to a flash drive, Delete TB from the Roaming Folder on (B), then Copy/Paste from the Flash Drive into the Roaming Folder on (B). Can anyone solve this problem?
I use version 68.12.1 because I've had considerable problems with an update before. It seems TB is being incessantly tweeked. Todd-Hall told me, "... there is whole new look and feel to version 78." If I have to learn a new interface I might as well spend the time and effort learning a different but hopefully more stable Email program. For example, Open Office is also open source software and is very stable.

I'm presuming Thunderbird is working perfectly ok on computer P but not on computer B.

I know you have been doing this for quite a while, but on this occasion, did you Exit Thunderbird first - (on both computers) and then copy the 'Roaming'/Thunderbird folder ? Perhaps, Thunderbird was minimised and you did not notice it ? Are you sure your Anti-Virus was not scanning any Thunderbird file at the time on either computer? Personally, I do not allow AV to scan anything to do with Thunderbird, but many people allow it.

Restart computer in 'Safe Mode' and this will stop any AV from interferring. Do Not start Thunderbird - it must not be running. Access the Roaming file of your User Account and copy the 'Thunderbird' folder to external drive.

Then start up computer B in Safe mode, make sure Thunderbird is not running and Delete TB from the Roaming Folder on (B), then Copy/Paste from the Flash Drive into the Roaming Folder on (B).

Thanks for your prompt and detailed response. I will try your suggestion as soon as I can find the time. I suppose interference from my A/V, Webroot, or my anti-spam, Spamfighter, is possible.
