How to Fix Hotkeys, Including Copy/Paste. None of the suggestions are appropriate. No CTRL+C or CTRL+V don't work in the browser or outside. No the context menu with right click doesn't not work either.

I'm not going to fight with this very long, this will instantly make me go back to chrome or even edge. I might even go to opera, as all the suggested forums when searching this issue get too deep, too technical, and too much time for me even to bother with on a browser. It's easier to install another one and should not even be this way in the first place.

That being said, it's usually not hard to fix these issues by simply disabling the way firefox copy/pastes intelligently. I don't want it to be intelligent. I want pure text only.

I do not understand why CTRL+C and CTRL+V isn't working. Even when I try to take the text I TYPED, out into a text document, I copy, and don't even get CLOSE to what I see I'm copying, this is ultterly the worst bug I've ever seen. It doesn't even make sense, all my paragraphs are backwards, sentences in the wrong places. A simple copy and paste, should copy and paste not modify the contents. If it can't see what I'm typing then it has a problem. I can see it fine. It's simply an unusable program 2 days after switching.

So where's the setting (If not any please let me know I'll uninstall immediately) to fix this. I want firefox only to copy raw text data period every time. I don't care if it has HTML code etc, I'll just cut the edges off. All I want is text only.

To add to this, this seems to be a multiple faceted issue. CTRL+Z fails to work properly. CTRL+X fails to cut properly. CTRL+Y fails to redo properly. Everything has completely butchered my long explanations and technical support making this browser absolutely useless to me. I'd rather have internet explorer 6 than this.

Since there is no URL where you trying to do the copy and paste how would anyone know how to replicate the issue here? Some sites actively block specific hotkeys from working and if so then the Browser has no control of this.

Almost all URL's I'd give a specific one if there were one. It failed in GMail, Reddit, Facebook. etc. Open reddit, type like making a new post. Fails. Comment? Fails. Anything that gets exceedingly long it seems, although not easy to recreate.

Edit: To get more specific, a text box like this is exactly where the issues are, where it should be pure text that I'm inputting into a field in the website/program.

Even more specific, it only happens in firefox. Not in Chrome, or Edge, haven't moved to opera yet.

Try alternative keyboard shortcuts in case the buttons on the webpage or other methods aren't working.

  • Copy: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert (Mac: Command+C)
  • Paste: Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert (Mac: Command+V)
  • Cut: Ctrl+X or Shift+Delete (Mac: Command+X)

You can do a malware scan just to be sure.

That makes no sense, first off my original post states I can't do ctrl+V so I assume you didn't even read it.

My intention was to try the Ctrl+Insert and Shift+Insert shortcut as those might not be intercepted.

Well since it's not a 100% repeatable issue, I cannot say it works. I've already swapped browsers. The problem gone immediately.

Edits: It might be helpful to know, while I'm not exactly a programmer, I do have a degree in programming, as well as 25+ years experience in the tech field, from hardware to software I'm a pretty decent tech, but I'm not perfect. I've worked on everything and specialize in software troubleshooting. There's 100% definitely no viruses on my computer, I ran a scan for safety but I don't even use active protection because I manually remove viruses 99% of the time.

Can you try copying and pasting text in a Notepad file (just within the file, not to Firefox)?

I am keen to under if this is just a Firefox issue.

I have same problem on Linux machine. Can't paste into Firefox address bar sometimes. But I can paste into any other applications. I can paste into Firefox again for 5-7 seconds after That's very annoying and make me go back to chrome for now.

I hope it can be fixed asap. I really love Firefox browser.
