jankomatic, My unread count doesn't automatically change any more, either. If it shows 2 unread messages and I open my mail window and read both and then minimize the window (to keep Thunderbird running, but without the window open), the icon still shows the number 2. But if I delete the two read messages, the counter disappears, as it should. (I'm on Windows 11 Pro 22H2 build 1778.) I think it's fair to hope/think/assume that's a minor problem ''that will be fixed in due course''.
