When mouse touches, not clicks, a Youtube video it opens in same window - not an autoplay preview issue.

When I try to find answers to this problem online all I get is solutions on how to stop the autoplay preview. This isn't the issue. The problem is when the mouse pointer rolls over a video for a second the video will run in the same window in the way that if I had left clicked on it. This isn't an autoplay preview where the video starts playing on mouse over but doesn't actually trigger the video to open, this is where the mouse over actually runs the video replacing the original page with the video links on if you see what I mean. Firefox has never worked properly with Youtube, there's always something.

Start Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or if userChrome.css/userContent.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the Default System theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Troubleshoot Mode start window

Thanks, I'll check later... although it seems there are often new issues when Firefox updates. It's a bit like playing whac-a-mole.
