Updating Firefox to avoid losing sync

more options

I received an email suggesting that I update my Firefox or I would lose syncing function. I have two computers. A fairly new iMac Ventura 13.6.8 running Firefox 123.0 64 bit which it says is up to date. But I also have an older iMac OSX 10.11.6 El Capiten running Firefox 78.15.0 ESR. I can't update the OS or Firefox on the old computer. So if I do nothing - will I still be able to sync on the newer Mac. I'm not too worried about the old one - I don't use it much for browsing - more for documents. Thank you. David Rimell

Hi David, that is my understanding.

Something is changing on the back end related to how you sign in to a Firefox/Mozilla Account. The method used in Firefox 78 ESR and earlier is being discontinued. That will prevent Firefox 78 ESR from connecting.

You may want to review the list of services linked with your Firefox/Mozilla Account login to see whether you rely on any of those on your older Mac. See: Access Mozilla services with a Mozilla account.

Either way, those should still work on your newer Mac.
