Lost Firefox "Bookmarks Toolbar" and all Bookmarks
I suddenly lost my Bookmarks Toolbar and all the bookmarks (485 bookmarks). I actually fixed the problem but wanted to share what happened. I did notice that my bookmarks were still on my iPhone and I was trying to be careful and not get them to sync with the desktop.
I tried restoring the bookmarks per the Support guidance and it would give an error when trying to restore them. I could probably repeat this if Tech Support is interesting in working with me to repeat the problem.
Today I found out what happened. In Norton 360 I had blocked Firefox from using the microphone and webcam. That's it! That caused the bookmarks toolbar to be empty and also I could not save a new bookmark.
I tried to find a setting somewhere in Norton that I might have changed a couple days ago because the problem started after I had made some changes although I had no idea what I did in Norton to cause that problem.
Today I was looking in settings or somewhere in Firefox and a window popped up saying I had the webcam and microphone disabled for Firefox. Is that ok? So I turned it off and the Bookmarks Toolbar magically showed up.
This makes NO logical sense at all that this setting caused the toolbars not to display or not to be able to add new bookmarks.
Thanks.

It's hard to understand the connection between a toolbar (or the bookmark system) and media devices. I'm trying to think of a way to test whether this is an issue with Windows settings or something specific to Norton, but I'm not very knowledge about application permissions in Windows and don't have Norton, so...
Jscher2000, thanks for the response. I think you understand that the problem was resolved because I did state that. Maybe you are referring to testing it and repeating the problem on another system besides mine. I've had my bookmarks back now and have backed them up again. Interestingly enough, even when I tried to restore them with the microphone and webcam disabled, it would not restore. It was very weird. i don't think it makes sense at all really. Thanks.
