Hello,
Please have a read of https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Form+autocomplete , It should help you fix your problem.
Kind Regards Cameron
Make sure that you not run Firefox in Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history mode. In Private Browsing mode some menu items are disabled (grayed) and some features like visited links and others are disabled and not working. You are in Private Browsing mode if you see "Tools > Stop Private Browsing". See Private Browsing - Use Firefox without saving history and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Issues_related_to_Private_Browsing ..... You enter Private Browsing mode if you select: Tools > Options > Privacy > History: Firefox will: "Never Remember History" To see all History settings, choose: Tools > Options > Privacy, choose the setting Firefox will: Use custom settings for history UnCheck: [[ ] "Automatically start Firefox in a private browsing session"

I read the article but there is nothing that helped the situation. I even cleared all of my history figuring that starting over may do the trick. I entered my log-in info at gmail, logged back out, then when I tried to log back in, only my username auto filled but again, no password. I even started ff in safe-mode and I have not been using the 'private browsing' option.
Did you check that you have only one name and password saved for the Google Gmail site?
I had 5 saved, and now I cannot find any in my saved passwords...they all worked recently so I am not sure what happened. So now when I go to log in on any of the accounts, when I type the first letter of my user name, I get the proper choices, but then no passwords. I also don't get prompted to save the password when I do log in.
Problem apparently solved, as I re-checked my 'exceptions' for saving passwords, and listed was google. Now I am sure that I had nothing listed there earlier, but now there are 5 or so sites listed and I am not sure why they were placed there. But it seems to be working as expected...thanks all for input and suggestions.
I may have spoken too soon because after it appeared that things were solved, I again lost all of my (5) gmail passwords. My id's were still there, but no passwords under 'saved passwords'. This comes after I saved them once again.
