It's not just a matter of installing an English version, but of only having the choice of a UK English version or the default US version - both which install UK and US search engines in the Search Bar (eg Yahoo.co.uk, BBC news or US equivalents) and neither which have a proper Australian (eg Macquarie) or even a British English (Oxford) dictionary.

I love Firefox, but I would appreciate an Australian localised version too.

Thank you very much for the links and for your time and effort, TXGuy. I'm sure your input will help many. Please don't be offended when I say it doesn't help the root of the issue.

As an MSCDT I have no problem with adding, removing and tweaking a browser like Firefox, but I know most users would like to simply install and use a localised version in one hit as they either don't have the patience or time to browse and install add-ons. I'm sure there's Australian companies that would love to be included in the Firefox search engine list and would pay for the privilege.

While Cameron's Australian English dictionary is a great idea if you type into forums such as this, it's simply a spelling dictionary. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any free Australian or UK English dictionaries with word meanings in the Search Engine list, nor anywhere on the web. This is not a Firefox complaint, but rather a separate third-party one.

Do you know of any browser that comes "out of the box" with those "features" built-in? I do not. If you do, please post the link(s).

Search engines help you find companies. If you want to restrict your searches in Google, include location:au in your search. Best to use Google "Advanced search" for this and enter location:au search terms in the "this exact wording or phrase:" box. When I search, if I want something in my city, in Google, I include city:my city'' in that search.

As for definitions in spell checkers, I do not recall ever seeing such. There are some synonyms in some word processing programs, but not definitions. There are many on-line dictionaries for that purpose.
