Can you reproduce this whenever you like (a certain link always does it)? If so, if you close Firefox, then start Firefox in Safe Mode, does the problem still occur? For instructions on starting in Safe Mode, see Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

This has been happening to me for a few weeks now. Each time I turn on the machine a blank IE page appears. In addition, despite all my efforts to identify Firefox as my browser, I get a message when I open Firefox telling me it is not my main browser. The two things seem part of the same problem. Windows Vista is my OS

I have noticed that when I double click on an email link to a website, instead of single clicking, is when the IE blank page opens up.

I am using Eudora 7.0.1

I tried looking for Eudora 7.0.1, but the Eudora website only offers 7.1, so I installed that on my Windows Vista machine and tested it, and the test link opened in Firefox.
