Ive read up on an extension that may solve this problem, but I want to know if there is a fix that Firefox actually has done to disable this silly feature. Ctrl + F is the old way of searching, the new way could have been Ctrl + (Apostrophe), but they didnt. Notice I used the word here, because even in a text box, the Apostrophe pulls up the quick search.

The feature in the options/advanced menu is by default unchecked. I originally tried the boolean fix, and that did nothing by itself. Plus my problem is greater than anyone else. The apostrophe and the forward slash pull up quick find on any website. It doesnt matter if the tab is blank, the quick find will still come up, but it wont actually work and find anything. It just sits there like a useless limb. I have the latest version of Firefox (3.6.6), with all the updates and everything, now what is wrong with this?

I already tried the extension and it worked. What Im trying to find is a disable feature that Firefox built into the software. Its gotta be there, nobody puts a feature such as that one without having a disable for it. Extensions are nice, but I dont usually trust extensions, and I dont like to install them unless I have to. Just looking for a work around.
