I am using Firefox version 3.6.8 and when I go onto a website Mozilla keeps the history and remebers the sites that I go onto, I know my way around firefox and keep changing the settings to see if it makes a difference, by this I mean, I change the privacy settings from "Never Remember History" to "Custom Settings" and I set it up so that it shouldn't remember history, even though I have done this, and cleared all history it keeps remembering the sites. The only thing that I have tried and works is starting Firefox in a Private Browsing session. I would just like to know why Firefox keeps my history even though the settings should prevent it. Any feedback will be helpfull and greatly appreciated. Thanks

The setting Tools > Options > Privacy > History: "Remember visited pages for at least" refers to the number of days kept in memory (default is 90 days). Firefox 3.5/6 versions store pages in places.sqlite on disk for 180 days by default.

You can look at these prefs on the about:config page.
