Recently I cannot access my Netflix http://www.netflix.com/ account login from Firefox whereas in the past I could. I have Windows XP as administrator when this problem occurs. When I login as Guest, it does not occur and I can access my Netflix account. Additionally I can access Netflix from Windows Explore.

On my administrator account, I have set all the Firefox Option in “Privacy” that are supposed to be set and it does not help. Also note that I have fire walls that are active both in the administrator and Guest logins. Remember that there are no problems in the Guest login.

When I use my login to Netflix from Firefox, the following error occurs:

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept cookies.

Try Again

How do I fix this?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

  • "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
  • "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I've done all that in the past and again as you stated in the steps ... It does not fix the problem. There is something else wrong. I contacted Netflix and they told me to contact Firefox. Al this does is allow the Netflix web-page to display but when i attempt log in to my account it still gets the same error.

The solution, whatever it is, is not obvious. Please re-read my original post to get the details.

Do you have any other suggestions? What is next to solve this? Thanks

If you can't log in properly and get redirected to the log in page then that is usually a cookie problem.

If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file cookies.sqlite that stores the cookies is corrupted.
Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite and cookies.txt, if they exist, in the Profile Folder in case cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

Also make sure that your security software (firewall) isn't blocking cookies.

I did as you said about the cookies.sqlite file. There were no 'cookies.txt' file in my \Firefox\Profiles. It still does not work and i still get the same error message. There is something terribly wrong with Firefox & Netflix & cookie's & Widows hand shaking. I also turned off my fire walls which did not work either. Here are files i have:

cookies.sqlite C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hu3hcccv.default 123 KB 12/30/2010 9:23 AM

cookies.sqlite-journal C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\hu3hcccv.default 3 KB 12/30/2010 9:27 AM

Probably none of these are not to be touched, they are not in the “\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles” directory cookies.txt C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Logitech\browser - logitech 1 KB 11/9/2010 5:34 PM

cookies.txt C:\Program Files\Real\realplayer\Common 1 KB 12/14/2010 12:38 PM

cookies.txt C:\Documents and Settings\Ron\Application Data\SecondLife\browser_profile 1 KB 3/19/2009 5:56 PM

The file cookies.txt was used in older Firefox 2 versions, so if you never used that version then you won't have that file in the Firefox profile folder.

This worked for me. I went to the Netflix.com site and entered my info as if I was signing up for a trial membership. That took me to my account page. Problem solved.
