Constantly 'not responding'. Why? Cache cleared, history cleared, this happens all the time!

My Mozilla Firefox is constantly 'not responding'. I have cleared the cache, cleared all history, run disk cleaner, run defrag, yet it continues to be a problem. It also 'can't find' many common sites like yahoomail. What is wrong? It shows as being completely updated.

Hi,

Is the circle on the tab green and rotating clockwise or grey and anti clockwise when 'not responding'?

sometimes it's blue. I don't know which way it turns, I never paid any attention. THe same way it always does. I updated the Adobe and flash.

Please try browsing in Safe Mode. Additionally while in Safe Mode also try disabling the plugins via Tools (Alt + T) > Add-ons, click Plugins on the left. And ideally it should be No Proxy in Tools (Alt + T) > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings.

Why? I use it to game a lot. Think maybe I"ll just switch to Chrome. It doesn't do this.

Is it the proxy? If Chrome is working for the games' sites minus the proxy then Firefox may also have no need for a proxy.

Don't know what you're talking about. Just that it USED to be fine and now it is 'not responding' all the time. Maybe I need to uninstall and reinstall? I have some add-on's on there too, but really don't want to start over with all this mess. From what I can tell, lots of people on FB and Mafia Wars have trouble with Firefox, hence the use of Chrome which seems to not do this. Thanks for your input, but this is way too complicated for me to deal with. I will have my friend look into it soon.
