Multiple forums and multiple web sites are filled with misinformation and incorrect information because there is no official page that lists what exact change was included in Firefox 9.0.1 over 9.0?

Not a page that list what was included in version 9.0 because that confuses users who *only* wish to find out why version 9.0.1 was released - not what's new in v9.0.

(In the past - it was difficult to find out why new versions showed up only a day or two after the official previous version was released. Can anything be done to change this so that Firefox developers would take 10 seconds to just briefly mention why a new version was released, they sometimes do this in blogs and deep inside individual forum discussion treads - why not on an official page?)

If you haven't already then I suggest having a look at Firefox's release notes.

You can also find further specific developer information

Hello c627627,

Have been searching for release notes about the update from 9.0 to 9.0.1 too. Found the page here: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/latest-firefox-issues#w_firefox-crashes-on-startup

Have a nice day,

Websafe.

Dbellca82, the question was about 9.0.1 and both links you posted do not hit 9.0.1 when I use CTRL+F to find 9.0.1 on any of the two pages you posted. The thread is about there not being any official page that *only* let's people know why a single incremental version was released over a previous one.

Websafe, that answers the question about v9.0.1. Thank you.

How would you find the same answer for 8.0.1 or a future release that is only a single increment higher than the official x.0 release? Where would you go, how would you find it?

Following is the Release Notes page for Firefox 9.0.1, but it appears to be a copy of the Firefox 9.0 Release Notes and does not appear to clearly address the issue of the changes between the two versions.

The following is for you to READ ONLY; please do not post in the Contributor's forum as it is intended for exchange of information between Firefox Contributors and is not for posting support questions.

Hello c627627,

From the next link: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/releases/ you can find the release notes from the updates by clicking the version and next clicking the “What’s New in Firefox”. This works also for the minor releases except the latest. Perhaps the latest release notes have not yet been updated.

Enjoy your surfing,

Websafe.

Despite its title, the entire point of the thread is really not to see at some distant point in the future (for historical purposes) what the difference b/w incremental versions was.

The point is: You've just deployed version X.0 when all of a sudden X.0.1 is officially released without a word of official explanation at to why. You can spend hours of time reading misinformation about it because the people spreading the misinformation have no clue.

This is because there is no official permanent source for brief descriptions of why an official non-Beta single incremental versions have just been released.

Websafe - your no-distribute link is only specific to the current situation, correct?

But what happened when v8.01 was released shortly after v8.0? How did you go about finding the answer as to why v8.01 was released. How will you go about finding out about a future single increment release after you've just spent a day installing it on multiple systems and are now trying to decide if the incremental version is important (like 9.01 is) or not important like 8.01 was not important. There was no need to spend the day updating v8.0 to v8.01, the nature of changes was not critical.

What is the procedure to establish one single official page for explanations regarding incremental official releases since I take it we all agree that there isn't one now.
