If I set Firefox as my default browser in Windows XP I cannot open links in my e-mails in Outlook 2003.

I have to list Microsoft Explorer as my default browser in order to be able to open the links.

Then I have to go back to Firefox and open it to use as my browser.

Hi zras01,

Try going to Tools > Options > Advanced to be sure that Firefox is indeed set as your default browser. You can also try:

  • Open Explorer (any folder in Windows XP)
  • Select Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types
  • Click on an entry and type "URL" to jump down to the file type "URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol" (Extensions: None)
  • Click Advanced -> Edit File Type -> Open -> Edit
  • Clear the check (no check) for DDE and click OK

Repeat the above steps for file types "HyperText Transfer Protocol with Privacy" and FTP.

This should work for you since you are on XP.

Hopefully this helps! Happy New Year!
