Firefox 3.6.x would load Microsoft Update website in IETab automatically when I clicked on the Microsoft Update desktop shortcut. Since upgrading to Firefox 12.0 the shortcut no longer works. It now just launches a new blank tab with "Go to a website" in the location bar. How can I get it to open Microsoft Update site in IE Tab Plus 2.0 again???

I have Win XP SP3 with IE8 and now Firefox 12.0 as default browser.

Does the site load via the location bar in Firefox?

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

The Microsoft Update site does load via the location bar in Firefox. It also loads if I right click on the desktop shortcut and click Send to Internet Explorer. But if I click on the shortcut it only goes to a blank tab in Firefox.

I cleared the Cache and removed Microsoft cookies. Still no better.
