I emailed about this before but the answer was not satisfactory. here is the problem. The Firefox window is "sticky" I try to move it around the desktop (not in full window mode, obviously) by left clicking and dragging with mouse. It will not move, I try and try, and then after several seconds of frustration it will finally move. Frequently the window is partly below the screen creating difficulties in accessing the content. I was told by tech support that the problem could not be duplicated. Now that reminds me of my husband not being able to "duplicate" a car problem... so I know that answer came from a man..... ? You see, this happens not just on one computer, but three - including my laptop. So it duplicates for me. And it must duplicate for others as it is more than one computer. I am using Windows 7, have huge memory on all computers. No problems of this sort with any other program. I'd sure be happy if it could be found and fixed! Thanks!

Try to start Firefox in Safe mode. This mode disables all extensions, user customizations, hardware acceleration, etc. temporarily for diagnostic and troubleshooting. If Firefox works fine in Safe Mode, then this is likely an add-on issue. Restart Firefox in normal mode, then type "About:addons" (without the quotes) in the address bar. Disable your extensions one by one, restarting Firefox between each one, until you find the trouble maker. Once you do, you can disable that add-on and report the issue to that add-on's developer.

A few other basic trouble shooting things you can try is this: Run all Windows Updates, install all needed service packs, etc.

Update your graphics driver (Firefox uses your graphics card for some rendering, and an out of date graphics card driver can cause problems. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-upgrade-my-graphics-drivers.

Update all your plugins (Flash, Java, etc.): http://www.mozilla.org/plugincheck/.

Download and Install MalwareBytes Anti-Malware, run a full Scan. http://www.malwarebytes.org/. This helps check that there are no viruses on your computer causing issues. You can uninstall this program after you clean off any infections.

Another important step, make sure you update to Firefox 12.

Thanks for the reply. I followed all of your suggestions. In safe mode, Firefox works fine, no stickyness. However, disabling the the add ons as you suggested, did not produce results, so then I disabled all of them. I still had the problem. (4 of the add ons were listed as "unknown" and grayed out, even though they were from legitimate companies such as Garmin) I have Norton and no viruses. My drivers are up to date. As this is happening on three different computers I don't think it's a hardware issue. Not sure what to do next  :-(

Safe Mode also changes some other settings, so it's difficult to know for sure what causes the problem.

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches with some graphic cards/drivers.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

Does that make any difference?

Thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately it did not help.  :-/
