My bookmarks are missing except for a few(default?) folders. Have tried the suggestions under missing bookmarks. I only find one profile, the default file.

Had a third part clean my computer and install paretologic and malwarebytes software. Had to change back my windows preferences, reboot etc.& now several days later we discover that our firefox bookmark folders are missing. The support for the above software denies they have done anything that would affect the bookmarks. Have gone through all suggestions on firefox support about this. Stumped. Way too complicated. What would corrupt that file or...is there any hope to recover 2 years of collecting articles/ research for our home business??

Did you try to delete the places.sqlite file (and other possible places files) in the Firefox Profile Folder to force a rebuild?

Problems with bookmarks and history not working properly can be caused by a corrupted places.sqlite database file.

You can try to check and repair the places database with this extension:

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
