Is the 'Java (TM) Platform SE' now a part of the default Firefox install?

more options

A clean install of older Firefox versions (eg 3.6.24) shows no Java anything in the plugins but in Firefox v15, the Java (TM) Platform SE) is always present. SO...

1) Is that specific Java plugin now a standard part of a clean Firefox install?

2) The uninstall instructions I have read, here for example... http://kb.mozillazine.org/Java and https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-issues-with-plugins-fix-problems ...either don't work (manual removal) or tell me to (in XP) uninstall Java from Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs. However as there's nothing from Java in Add or Remove Programs, it seems the only way to uninstall this plugin is to upgrade/install the full Java from Oracle and then uninstall it. Is there no other way to get rid of the thing? It seems bizarre that I should have to agree to run third party software and agree to whatever legal dross that party demands, simply to remove some of their crapware that I didn't want in the first place and which from the last week's news is a damn liability to me

Thanks for any help.

1) No, Java Platform SE isn't a standard part of Firefox.

2) Those instructions aren't applicable to the Portable Edition version of Firefox, which is made and supported by Portable Apps, not Mozilla.

I haven't used the Portable Edtion in quite awhile, but AFAIK you need to remove the Java dll files from the \FirefoxPortable\Data\plugins folder to get rid of Java in the Portable Edition.
