I am trying to print something and when I click on the print button it tells me that java is not installed on my computer. Java is installed. I even uninstalled and reinstalled it. Then a bar shows up acrass the top saying that I need additional plug ins to display all the media on the page. I click the install missing plugins button on the bar and firefox trys and fails to install the java runtime environment plug in. Clicking the install manually button just takes me to a page to install java.

I have done everything in the first reply and none of it helped. I cleared the history, started firefox in safe mode, checked the plugins, reset firefox, ect. I dont have any issues with Java in internet explorer, so whatever is going on is only effecting firefox.

To avoid confusion:

Make sure that you do not block JavaScript.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Note that Firefox currently blocks Java because of severe security vulnerabilities.
