Two days ago, I updated Firefox to version 21. Now, YouTube and all Flash videos freeze after 12 seconds of play. If i move the video frame one second, it plays for another 12 seconds and freezes again at second 24 frame and so on freezing every 12 seconds. I have updated Flash, but this didn't change anything. Also, no sound on videos. This only started right after i updated to Firefox 21. Now , I can't figure out how to go back to Firefox 20 and I can't watch videos.

Try turning off Flash's protected mode
Check that your graphics drivers are updated!
Try with hardware acceleration off.

This was not the problem. There is no sound on my computer now. I have Soundmax digital integrated audio. When I downloaded Firefox 21, it must have changed something on the system. I tried removing it completely, but now I cant get sound to work on any programs. Firefox 21 obviously changed something in the system sound configuration. What can this be? Also, Google Chrome has no problem playing videos but Firefox 21 freezes every 12 seconds, so it in firefox and not in my system. Now all I want is my sound back.

Try to uninstall and reinstall Flash

You can find the latest Flash player versions for Firefox on this page.

You can check for problems with current Flash plugin versions and try these:

  • disable a possible RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension for Firefox and update the RealPlayer if installed
  • disable protected mode in the Flash plugin (Flash 11.3+ on Windows Vista and later)
  • disable hardware acceleration in the Flash plugin

This worked for me. Get rid of anything in plug-ins and programs that have Mindspark.
