I have history turned off - why is it still all there behind the 'go back' button?

So, in 'Options', I've got 'Never Remember History' selected. Sure enough, when I look in the History tab 'Show All History', there is none visible there. HOWEVER, if I right click the 'Go Back One Page' button, all the pages visited are there - and clicking the button cycles back through them. So history IS being remembered even though it is set not to. Why is this? Where is this data coming from, and how do I stop it being stored? Many thanks for any help.

被選擇的解決方法

this is data that is stored within your current session's history - if you want to limit that, enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.sessionhistory.max_entries. double-click it and change its value to 0.

Thanks a lot Philipp - that explains it! Further to this, does FF create anything similar to index.dat files?
