firefox as default browser

Microsoft tells me that I have to make IEX the default browser, else I would not be able to use Windows online help within MS Office. I rather prefer Mozilla. So, when opening links from within Outlook mails, IEX is used, with all the associated negative consequences (no cookie protection, no bookmarks, no plug-ins, etc.) Any workaround to solve this dilemma?
