I clicked on the link which said: What happened to the file, edit and view menus. In that article it said:

Firefox has an option to use the Firefox button which takes the most common functions and puts them in one menu. When the Firefox button is in use, the Menu Bar is hidden. To restore a hidden Menu Bar:

Right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip and check Menu Bar in the pop-up menu.

I right clicked on an empty section of the tab strip and checked the menu bar, but nothing changed.

Which Linux distribution do you use?

Ubuntu 11.xx and later display window menus in the control bar at the top of the screen with the switch to the Unity window manager.
