I need to type a specific address but it gets auto corrected. http://***** to www.****.com
I need to type a specific address into the browser in order to configure a wireless signal booster i just purchased, however, the bar auto corrects it to something else, consequently not finding the page. The address I need is written like: http://***** without a www. or a .com But the browser changes it to www.***.com is there any way to get around that auto correct??

hello trom891, please try the following which should correct the issue: enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named browser.fixup.alternate.enabled. double-click it and change its value to false.
You can also trey to set the browser.urlbar.autoFill to false to disable auto-fill in the location bar.

Thank you for the reply, unfortunately the problem still persists. I'm not sure why, I am currently talking with customer support for the product. Hopefully this issue will be resolved quickly.
You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make a note of those passwords and bookmarks.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
The problem is, when I try to type about:config, this is automatically changed in www.about:config (remember what the problem was ....)
When you type about and www.about appears, try hitting the Backspace key once to clear that "suggestion". Then continue typing :config
Hi StefBlom, to work around the problem accessing about:config, try creating a bookmark for it.
If you have the Bookmarks Toolbar displayed, right-click it and choose New Bookmark. Or if you prefer, you can right-click somewhere on the Bookmarks Menu or Bookmarks Sidebar (opens and closes using Ctrl+b) and choose New Bookmark.
Then type or paste about:config as both the name and the location (or you can choose a shorter name if you like). Can you get into about:config using the bookmark?
I always use a keyword (ac) bookmark to open the about:config page.
I currently use about:about for the home page to have easy access to all about pages and notice easier if a new about: page appears in a developer version (we seem to have about:welcomeback next to about:sessionrestore)
