It really sucks, when firefox constantly causing BSOD and even it its default configuration in troubleshuting plugin..

Windows 7 64-bit SP1 (all available patches installed). FF start crashing system during last few weeks (I'm using IE now). Doesn't matter which web site, even with all plugins and addons disabled. I think it got bad after last FF update to version 24....

Can you see if you have the problem on clean profile?

What does the Windows Event Viewer say about the BSOD?

Win7 is running my PC for a couple of years now. The first time problem appeared on Aug-19th 2013. I've deleted Firefox and system looks stable for a few days. Why having FF a few minutes and a single mouse move in the FF window causes BSOD. I didn't have FF crash while having OS continue to run..

Anyway, last error message was The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000124 (0x0000000000000000, 0xfffffa8007b7a028, 0x00000000b2000040, 0x0000000000000800). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 101213-33072-01.

The one before that: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly.

Most (but probably not all) BSODs relate to graphics driver incompatibilities. Could you disable Firefox's use of hardware acceleration for graphics? If Firefox doesn't run long enough to make settings changes, you can do this in Firefox's Safe Mode.

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"

To start Firefox in its Safe Mode, assuming Firefox not running, hold the Shift key when launching it. In the small dialog that appears, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

It looks stable for a few minutes in safe mode, we'll see how long it gonna live in normal mode

Since you have a Nvidia 460 I wonder if it may be a driver issue as for example https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/616206/geforce-drivers/what-acute-s-going-wrong-with-drivers-for-400-500-series-/

Hello,

I did start having also problems with firefox, sorry but i cannot tell you with what version but those was started in the same period as the 331 driver from nvidia was released.

Now i'm using (or at least i try to) the 320.49 old nvidia driver because i cannot drop my frefox but i cannot work with it either with latest nvidia drivers. It keep crushing the video driver, sometimes that is restarting but not correctly (the cursor is either invisible, either wrong icon) or freezing the browser and entire computer for a few seconds, or freezing entirely.

To be honest i did NOT suspect firefox until TODAY so i have tried until now to check hdds, memory, i even replaced my power source because i thought is faulty and is not giving enough juice.

Guys, you have big troubles with latest nvidia drivers and the hardware acceleration of Firefox! Better work on those now as dropping users is not what you want.

Now some techical details that may help you (or not) My rig is a GA-P35-DS3L Q6600 processor 4Gb Ram Nvidia 550 TI Win 7 x64

Please don't start asking for cooling and overclocking. I'm not noob and i can assure you that the problem is not here since i did not overclock anything and about cooling there is not even the littlest trouble. Don't ask about windows either. I just reinstalled it  :((( and is doing exactly the same!

Writing this message in Chrome (Bleah) please don't ruin my favorite browser further!

I tried to send you my minidump file in hope that may help you but here only images are allowed. Is the same 0x00000124 error as you see on top.

Hi denvarel, I'm not sure from your post, but are you able to use Firefox normally with Firefox's use of hardware acceleration disabled? (Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems)

Well i have some file transfer tasks now and i did not start the Firefox from obvious reasons. I use it for web development, (with firebug, fireftp and so on,) so i will have an answer soon.

But but even is working without hardware acceleration, do you think that is a good fix??? The issue has to be addressed otherwise a lot of troubles may appear. Come on, Firefox is the second browser with around 30% user share. And this issue is NEW, only a month or 2 old. The Firefox developers should take action after loosing entire percents of users?

Right now my experience shows no BSOD for more than 1 hour but without starting Firefox... When i will end this task file copying session i will start it and i come back with the results.

I don't know whom to blame more: firefox or NVidia folks, but this situation sucks... Neither removing all FF plug-ins nor cleaning profile nor disabling hardware acceleration helped.

Anyway I can't wait for some of these folks to fix it, so I've just rolled back to old version of Nvidia driver. I'm using Nvidia driver version dated 14.03.2013 and I've disabled any Nvidia driver updates in Windows update for now. No crashes so far with old driver and latest FF.

I can confirm that i did not have any problems with Hardware acceleration disabled and 320.49 driver from Nvidia. I have seen in the forum that some user are using without problem an even older driver 3.14.

Blaming nvidia for their updates will not help much even is their fault. Something has to be done with Firefox in order to not make this troubles. One more time, on my case i did experience so many BSOD that i have to reinstall windows7 after 4 years of using it... I did not succeed to repair it, that extensive was the corruption of the filesystem. With all the troubles implied, 2 days of work....

Hello,

A new driver from nvidia come up today. Any courageous people here to try it with firefox? I don't want another win reinstall...

I've had the same BSOD problem with the latest Firefox, but never before. The error message is 'A clock interrupt was not received on a secondary processor within the allocated time interval.' I only get this when moving the mouse around with Firefox at full-screen window. I have the latest driver for my video card. After reading this board, I have disabled hardware acceleration. So far no crash but it has only been a half-hour.
